My first paid job was self-organizing a community-wide talent show in the courtyard of our Seaside, California apartment at just five years old. I recruited my older friend (she was 8, lol) to assist and we danced our hearts out to win that $.25 per admission purse. Blame it on my ADHD, my beloved walkman blasting Paula and Mariah on repeat, or the fact that my parents met on a dance floor, but I was born to mooove! After months of coordinating a group of girlfriends to go dancing monthly and finding the clubs empty at 8pm, the moment I heard about Earlybirds…it was a match made in disco ball heaven. Not only is dancing FUN, I am convinced that it is central to our overall wellness, especially as women in our culture. Movement is medicine and our sanctuary is a packed, pulsating, liberating dance floor.
I was born in California, raised in the Midwest, spent my early adulthood in Tennessee and California, and have called Austin home for the last seven years. When I’m not deep in the trenches of mothering my four magical children, you can find me enjoying nature, paddle boarding at Barton Springs, exploring eclectic Austin, spending time with my tribe, creating art, advocating for equal rights, or serving in the Entheogenic medicine space.
