Hype From the Crowd
Ladies!! I cannot effectively express how cathartic, fun and enjoyable this event was! I have always loved dancing, but as a happily married, 41 year old woman, I haven’t been out dancing in many years. First of all, because I’m usually ready to END the night by 9pm, not START the night at 9pm. Also, men in bars can be creepy, touchy or just stare a little too long. This event exceeded my expectations at almost every turn, from the all-female security staff, bartenders and DJs, to the joy and freedom on the dance floor! I immediately felt safety and comfort that I have never experienced at a club before (not feeling the need to scan the room often for unwanted male gaze, or clutch my purse extra tight to my body…). The attire ranged from yoga pants to sequins, but the common denominator was women looking and feeling comfortable in their skin, which made the energy light and the dancing easy! I cannot recommend this event enough. Please, please, please come back to Kansas City soon!!

Went to the event in Detroit last night and it did not disappoint. It’s hard to write the complex emotions I felt last night. I smiled so many times watching women be fully themselves. Laughing, dancing, taking selfies with friends, scream singing their favorite songs all in sensible shoes. The range of ages, was beautiful in itself. Spending four hours dancing with loud music was the break from the world I knew I needed but didn’t know how to get it. My heart and soul have been refreshed.

I had the best time out in decades! The fact that I no longer drink and there’s a scarcity of dance clubs in my vicinity alone, may account as to why we had such a great time! The DJ and the music she chose were incredible, definitely a good mix of genres!! We literally danced for at least 3.5 out of the 4 hours!!

What an amazing experience! A room full of people (sans cis men) who were there to just dance and have a good time. It was the first time I’d been to a club in 20 years and was surprised to realize it was the first time I didn’t have to be vigilant for my safety. The atmosphere was supportive, safe and full of people taking care of each other. Thank you for creating this event, I didn’t realize how much I needed it.

My younger self loves to dance and sing out loud. My 51 year old self prefers the couch and a decent bed time. But this event was beyond all that I had imagined and more! First off seeing my charity of choice coincidentally being the recipient organization for the event and then dancing my heart out with my girls in an environment full of fun loving people! No drama. No weirdos trying to hit on you. Just a great time where it felt like we were all there just to have a good time and still make it home before midnight!
